Barnes: Coutinho akan menjadi ‘brilian’ tetapi Liverpool tidak membutuhkannya

Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho would be “brilliant” for Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need him, according to John Barnes.

Coutinho spent five years in the Premier League with Liverpool between 2013 and 2018, establishing himself as one of the leading talents in English football during that time.

The Brazillian got 54 goals and 45 assists for the Reds from 201 appearances in all competitions, which led to his move to Barcelona in January 2018.

FEATURE: Only Blades have slumped harder than Liverpool year-on-year

Apart from the Reds’ front three, Takumi Minamino, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are the only other players to have scored more than one goal this season.

Liverpool have scored just one goal in their last three matches with Klopp’s men earning just two points from those fixtures.

However, Barnes thinks a move for Coutinho would do more harm than good to Liverpool.

Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “Well, when we had a Coutinho-type of player we finished 20-odd points off the top.

“So, although a Coutinho-type player may chip in with goals, which would create a completely different style of play, as a result the front three would score less.

“Personally, I don’t think it works with a midfield player scoring goals when the front three want to continue scoring the same level of goals as they’re used to as it’ll uproot the balance.
